In 1986 Henry Ilsen and his son Michael successfully took their company Dialene International Limited to the Aims market prior to selling it to Bunzl PLC. Henry founded Strata Products in 1987 and in 1989 he was joined by Michael when the Company started trading. Henry retired in 1994 when Michael took over the running of Strata.
Strata’s initial success was with its range of storage boxes as the first company to launch a range of user-friendly storage boxes with snap-on lids. Whilst supplying a range of storage boxes to toy and baby retailers in 1994, Strata saw an opportunity to launch its range of baby bath-time products. The Company is now a major supplier of such products in the UK market.
In 1996 assets were acquired from Panda Plastics Limited – a company based in Lancashire producing buckets for the industrial and equestrian markets as well as baby bath products.
In 2001 Strata bought the business and assets of the ‘Ward’ brand and with that acquisition became one of the leading suppliers in the UK of watering cans, water butts, compost bins and planters.
In 2007 Michael’s son Jay joined the Company.
In 2008 Strata launched its new Smart Storemaster Boxes which have taken the market by storm.
In 2009 the Company launched several new products for the recycling market and continues to research and produce new products for this market in line with demand.
At the end of 2013, Strata bought the Sankey business from Fiskars UK.
In November 2015, Strata became part of the RPC Group, one of the world’s leading plastic products design and engineering companies. Strata continues to be run by the same management team as before and remains one of the leading suppliers of Storage, Garden and Baby products in the United Kingdom today.
In April 2016, Strata was delighted to receive a Queen's Award for Enterprise: International Trade.
